Engage PEO Continues Its National Expansion by Launching Texas Markets with Strategic Hires

St. Petersburg, Fla. – April 15, 2013 – Engage PEO, a leading professional employer organization providing HR outsourcing solutions to small and mid-sized businesses, today announced its expansion to Texas including the Houston, Austin and San Antonio markets. As part of its investment in the region, Engage has hired two senior sales team members - Heather Middleton joins the company as vice president in Houston and David LeBlanc as vice president in Austin.

With thousands of worksite employees already experiencing Engage’s “Expect More” benefits and service philosophy, the company continues to grow nationally with a focus on its unique insurance broker partnership model to offer comprehensive HR solutions to small and mid-sized businesses nationally.

“With one of the more robust PEO environments in the nation and a healthy focus on insurance brokers, expanding in Texas has been one of Engage’s top priorities,” said Jay Starkman, CEO of Engage. “The key to success in these developed markets is making sure you have the right leaders to launch the territories. Heather and David both have proven track records and extensive experience working with insurance brokers; they are a perfect fit for Engage and the right team to help us grow in Texas.”

Engage will provide Aetna healthcare plans and solutions that are healthcare reform compliant, A-rated workers’ compensation insurance options from Tower Insurance, industry-leading technology, and legislative and regulatory compliance that is carried out in the field to businesses in the Texas markets exclusively by employment attorneys.

“I have been following Engage’s rapid success as well as the level of commitment the company provides to its broker partners and clients and I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of,” said Middleton. “I’m excited to have the opportunity to provide businesses with unmatched, customized products and services so they can focus on what really matters - their core business.”

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with the Engage leadership previously and am impressed with the company’s top-tier solutions and service level,” said LeBlanc. “Today especially, businesses are faced with unique challenges when it comes to human resources and I’m looking forward to bringing my knowledge and Engage’s offerings to Texas businesses to help strengthen their competitive advantage.”

Middleton has been a part of the PEO industry for 14 years and is involved in numerous professional and civic organizations.

LeBlanc received his bachelor of arts degree from Louisiana State University, has been a sales professional in the PEO industry for 15 years and is involved in many professional and civic organizations.

Good News For PEO Clients Eligible for the 20% Pass-Through Deduction

The Treasury Department and IRS issued formal guidance today clarifying that being a client of a PEO does not affect the eligibility of pass-through entities for the 20 percent tax deduction in Section 199A of the tax code.

The tax reform bill passed at the end of 2017 created Section 199A—allowing taxpayers to deduct the "combined qualified business income amount" from a pass-through entity in an amount up to 20 percent of the taxpayer’s taxable income.
