Education Fund of Miami-Dade Honors Engage PEO CEO with Public School Alumni Achievement Award

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – May 30, 2014 – Jay Starkman, CEO of Engage PEO, was honored on May 29, 2014 by the Education Fund of Miami-Dade County with the Public School Alumni Achievement Award. Engage PEO is a leading professional employer organization providing HR outsourcing solutions to small and mid-sized businesses.

The Public School Alumni Achievement Award recognizes public school graduates from around the country for their professional and community achievements.  2014’s awards focused on individuals whose entrepreneurship and/or leadership have energized the local economy.

They are the future and it’s vital to provide them with the best tools to help them succeed,” said Starkman. “I’m proud to be a product of the public school system and honored to be among such distinguished peers.”  Starkman further stressed that, “Our public school system is in dire need of whatever support people can give.  Today, improving awareness of this need is what all of the Honorees, including me, are about.”

In addition to Starkman, other honorees included:  Florida lobbyist, Ronald Book; Cynthia Demos, News Anchor & Reporter, CBS4; Wilfredo Ferrer, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida; Hilda Fernandez, Executive Director of the Homeless Trust; Larry Harris, co-founder of Pollo Tropical; David Landsberg, former Publisher of The Miami Herald and current President & CEO of Goodwill Industries of South Florida; and Bert Sylverstri, SVP & regional head of IBM.
