Assistant General Counsel/Human Resources Consultant in New York

Responsibilities include:

  • Primary HR interface to business clients including employee relations, human resources and compliance issues
  • Coordinate with clients and HR team to create and deliver comprehensive HR solutions to our clients
  • Develop, draft and implement policies, procedures and agreements for a variety of human resources and employment related issues
  • Anticipate and mitigate potential compliance problems as they pertain to employment matters
  • Develop strategies to reduce potential areas of risk
  • Assistance with oversight of employment litigation matters
  • Ability to negotiate and draft agreements as appropriate
  • Strong research and drafting skills regarding employment issues
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for reviewing employment related documents
  • Regularly conduct employment-related investigations
  • Regularly present human resources and compliance trainings
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others
  • Ability to work from home
  • Significant client interaction
  • Ability to travel domestically a must. Majority of the travel is in the NY tri-state area
  • NO billable hours

Required Knowledge and Skills 

  • At least two years of employment litigation experience preferred
  • Outstanding interpersonal and consulting skills
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and individually
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Admission to a State bar, with strong preference given to those admitted in New York

Education and Experience:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited school of law
  • New York and multistate employment law experience a plus
  • Experience handling audits and drafting agency responses a plus
