Prior to founding Engage, Jay was the president and chief executive officer of AlphaStaff Group, Inc.
In less than a decade, he grew AlphaStaff ten-fold, taking it from a small player to a top five PEO with over 70,000 worksite employees. He created a new value proposition for the company, invested in technology and talent, and accelerated the development of the company’s marketing strategy. The fastest growing PEO during this time, Jay sold the company in 2008 to a private equity group, creating a large return on investment for AlphaStaff’s shareholders.
Preceding AlphaStaff, Jay was president and CEO of OneChem, a software application provider to the chemical industry. At OneChem, Jay transitioned a conceptual software platform into a successful technology system that garnered widespread acclaim amongst industries relying heavily on multi-level transactions, transfer of goods and communications.
In addition to his corporate leadership success, Jay had a distinguished legal career, serving as the managing partner of his firm, which specialized in employment and commercial law, arguing seminal cases as high as the United States Supreme Court.
Jay was an active member of the board of directors of ESAC (Employee Services Assurance Corporation), the accrediting body for the PEO industry. He also served on the board of NAPEO (the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations). Jay has received numerous awards and recognition for his accomplishments in the PEO industry: Florida’s Top Entrepreneur by Florida Business Leader in 2010; HRO Top Superstar by HRO Today in 2005, 2006 and 2007; and Florida TrendSetter by Florida Trend in 2004.
