We are seeking an experienced Payroll Tax Analyst to support the company's finance and payroll tax operations by providing in-depth analyses of financial trends, gathering and interpreting data for projects and departmental objectives, identifying root cause of tax accounting variances, and assisting both Payroll and Tax teams with resolution of errors. The preferred location for this position is the Engage Southeast Operations Center in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Audit monthly and quarterly variances between the General Ledger and tax payments and filings, identify and resolve issues.

  • Assist Tax Manager, Controller and CFO with tax information and earnings information used to determine departmental and strategic objectives.

  • Work with external auditors on an as needed basis to provide necessary information and ensure compliance.Resolve any issues that arise.

  • Gather and interpret information to correct issues that may arise with taxes during or after payroll processing, including processing client adjustments.

  • Work with Tax Manager to represent Payroll Tax Department on company-wide initiatives.

  • Develop processes for implementation of new initiatives.

  • Hold Power of Attorney on IRS accounts to resolve Federal tax issues as they arise.

  • Process Quarter End import from HRP To MasterTax.Identify and resolve issues with Quarter End data.

  • Perform duties of Tax Accountant as needed.

  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
     

Required skills/experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, or equivalent experience resulting in broad knowledge of a field related to the job, such as accounting, analytics, banking, business administration or payroll, plus 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  •  Software Skills: Advanced: Accounting, Spreadsheet (Excel) Microsoft Access; Intermediate (preferred): MasterTax, HR Prism, 10-Key, Payroll Systems; Basic: Alphanumeric Data Entry, Presentation/PowerPoint, Word Processing/Typing, QuickBooks
  •  Knowledge of state and federal tax requirements and procedures
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment and adjust to pressure situations
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent math and computational skills
  • Experience working in a team-based environment with flexible work assignments
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Client service focus
