Recognized on the Inc.5000 list of fastest growing companies in the U.S. – two years in a row - Engage PEO is an innovative Professional Employer Organization (PEO) seeking a Benefits Accounting Analyst to join our dynamic team. This role will be responsible for the preparation, review and analysis of the reconciliations of all benefits and 401(k) plans for Engage clients/worksite employees. The position will be based in Engage PEO's Southeast Operations Center in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform, review and analyze reconciliations of all insurance products, to include medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401k, COBRA, FSA & HSA.
  • Reconcile insurance carrier invoices monthly.
  • Ensure all payments made to insurance carriers/benefit vendors are made timely, properly recorded in the general ledger and pending adjustments are cleared by the next reporting period.
  • Reconcile all insurance payable accounts to the general ledger.
  • Ensure system configuration of all benefit plans is consistent with insurance programs and general ledger accruals are administered accurately.
  • Ensure proper billing for all clients/worksite employees. 
  • Analyze charges/credits to clients/worksite employees for collection discrepancies.
  • Identify discrepancies and inconsistencies in available information and explain variances.
  • Communicate and resolve discrepancies/variances to Finance/Benefits Department leadership and insurance carriers/other benefits vendors on a timely basis.

  • Ability to analyze and process large amounts of data with high levels of accuracy.

  • Effective interpersonal skills to build strong vendor relationships and interact professionally with all levels in the organization.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Advanced knowledge of Excel, v look-ups, pivot tables and macros required


  • HRIS systems.
  • Finance and accounting practices, financial analysis and reporting.
  • Benefits administration and billing reconciliation processes.
  • Health and welfare benefit plan designs.


  • Minimum 5 years of comprehensive analytical, reconciliation and reporting experience with health and welfare plans.
  • QuickBooks/Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) experience preferred
  • PEO experience preferred.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field preferred.
