Engage PEO, the fastest growing Professional Employer Organization (PEO) in the U.S. is seeking an experienced Benefits Consultant to join our dynamic team.The individual will support Engage’s sales organization in defining benefits strategies for prospective clients; assist Engage Account Business Partners and benefits operations teams with product expertise and benefits solutions; and maintain relationships with Engage’s benefits-related vendor partners. The Engage Benefits Consultant works collaboratively with all Engage departments, including Human Resources, Payroll, Finance, Marketing and Engage Insurance, to deliver an exceptional employee benefits program to our clients. This position can be based in Texas or Florida.  


There are three primary responsibilities for the Engage Benefits Consultant:

  • Support sales in helping client prospects define their optimum benefits strategy, including contribution strategy, compliance, benefit solutions and pricing.
  • Assist Engage Account Business Partners (ABPs), benefits operations and other internal Engage staff with product expertise and solutions as needed.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and strong product knowledge for all benefits-related products in support of the sales process.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all Engage benefits product offerings, the markets assigned to your sales leaders, and the overall competitive environment in an effort to enhance sales results

  • Actively support assigned Sales leaders with meeting the needs of client prospects 

    • Support  pre-sale / benefits strategy and finalist activity

    • Assist with development of cost analyses, spreadsheets and preparation of proposals for prospective clients

    • Take responsibility for timely and ongoing adjustments to the original benefits proposal and for finalizing underwriting sign-off for new sales

    • Act as the single point of contact for expertise on our products, competitors (i.e... "player's," products, provisions and philosophy) in the markets you support

    • Positively position Engage with client prospects by leveraging our product portfolio and Engage’s core value proposition

    • Keep the Engage Insurance President and EVP apprised of changes in the market and product gaps, and drive new solutions that continue to enhance the competitiveness of Engage's product portfolio

  • Act as the primary benefits, compliance, product and market expert supporting implementation, benefits operations and Account Business Partners (ABPs)

    • Conduct internal training as necessary (for sales, benefits operations, ABPs, etc.)

    • Identify solutions for product challenges or gaps (set-up, market inconsistencies, network challenges, etc.) and identify opportunities for process improvement, taking action as appropriate

    • Work with implementation team, ABPs and Engage Marketing to develop client-specific communication materials for the Engage Insurance product portfolio

    • Participate in special projects in support of Engage Insurance, effectively assessing and communicating business impacts

  • Maintain strong vendor partner relationships and maximize those partnerships to drive product expertise and enhancements to the portfolio

    • Serve as the escalation point for regulatory, policy and contractual issues, working closely with carriers/vendors to resolve those issues

    • Identify best practices for marketing the product portfolio by regularly interacting and training with vendor partners


  • Four year college degree, or equivalent experience resulting in broad knowledge of employee benefits and benefits strategy

  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and sound judgment

  • Ability to work independently and multi-task

  • Effective communication skills, written and verbal

  • Exceptional client service skills

  • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office products

  • Experience within an HR outsourcing environment highly preferred

  • PEO experience highly preferred

  • Employee benefits industry/insurance carrier industry experience preferred

  • Health/life Insurance license preferred

  • Benefits or HR certifications a plus

  • Spanish fluency a plus
