Recognized on the Inc.5000 list of fastest growing companies in the U.S. – two years in a row - Engage PEO is an innovative Professional Employer Organization (PEO) seeking an experienced Accounts Payable (AP) Manager to manage the organization’s end-to-end accounts payable function. The position will play a central role in the continued development and improvement of the A/P process. The ideal candidate must be able to identify and recommend process improvements, to include migration to a paperless environment.  

Essential Functions:

  • Manages the end-to-end vendor invoicing process including reviewing and coding items such as invoices, vouchers, expense reports and check requests with correct GL codes, conforming to standard procedures to ensure proper entry into the financial system and maintaining vendor files.

  • Reviews AP Aging and prepares weekly payment request.

  • Completes accurate and timely processing of accounts payable checks, wire transfers and ACH payments.

  • Ensures proper authorization is obtained for all invoices, vouchers, expense reports and check request following the internal authorization matrix.

  • Ensures accurate and timely reconciliation of all vendor accounts to vendor statements.

  • Participates in month-end closing, including preparation of expense accruals, journal entries and expense allocations.

  • Reconciles balance sheet accounts including accounts payable and intercompany accounts.

  • Evaluates current process and formulates suggestions to improve efficiency.

  • Resolves invoice discrepancies as necessary. Handles all vendor correspondence via phone or email.

  • Prepares and processes all 1099s to ensure timely submission to the IRS.

  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

 

Required skills/experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an Accounts Payable managerial or supervisory role.

  • Full-cycle A/P experience.

  • Paperless A/P experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of purchasing, accounts payable and applicable accounting processes, procedures, practices and principles.

  • General Ledger coding experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

  • QuickBooks and Great Plains experience preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicate.
